September 18th through September 22nd was spirit week for Dobyns-Bennett. The DB Hoco game was on Friday, September 22nd. Although the Homecoming game was a loss, the experience itself was an exciting one. Not only were students watching the game, but during the half-time show, the Hoco queen was chosen. There was a lot of excitement as vintage cars delivered the court candidates to the audience. Janiyah Johnson, a DB Spirit Shaker, was crowned this year’s Homecoming queen. We asked Janiya questions about her crowning at the football game:

  • How did it feel when you were on the field and your name was called?
    • “I was really shocked and full of excitement!! It was really exciting”
  • What sets you apart from others? Are there any trends you are known for?
    •  “I don’t think I really set any trends I believe it’s just the way people see me as a person and being on the dance team because I have been told that I’m a person anyone can be comfortable around and very easy to talk to.
  • What are your plans for the future? Which colleges are you planning on going to or applying for?
    • “My plans are to go to college hopefully at ETSU, Georgia State University, or Northeast and study business management and work on becoming a Human Resource Specialist.”
  • Here’s something out of the blue, if you could be one super hero, who would it be?
    • “Oh goodness, I would say Wonder Woman!”
  • Last question, if you could sit on a bench with any alive or dead celebrity, or family member, who would it be and why? Also, what would you talk about?
    • “I love this question! But I would love to talk to Beyonce!! Because I have looked up to her since I was 5 years old and she is a very loving person and cares for others but also is a outstanding performer and I have always wanted to be able to perform like her and the conversation I would love to have with her is just her explaining to me what it takes and how her journeys was like to become a performer and then I would ask her if I could dance with her at one of her concerts lol.”
