Classwork, homework, studying, but for what cause? Most students hate testing, especially when they don’t study or pay attention during class. Mrs. Jennifer Emmette is the testing coordinator at Dobyns-Bennett, and we asked her questions that students or teachers might be wondering.

  1. We know that the free ACT test is October 3rd, but what other ACT testing is there?
  • 2017 test dates deadlines –  October 28th, and December 9th.
  • Registration – November 4th.
  • **Late registration –  September 23-October 6th, November 4-17
  • Photo upload(for ID purposes) – September 1st, October 20th, December 1

  • 2018 test dates deadline– February 10th, April 14th, June 9th, and July 14th.
  • Registration- January 12, March 9th, May 4th, and June 15th.
  • **Late registration- January 13-19, March 10-23, May 5-18, and June 15.
  • Photo upload- February 2nd, April 6th, June 1st, July 6th.
  1. What’s the cost of those to a student to take it on those other dates?

ACT- $46.00

ACT with writing- $62.50

  1. How can a student learn more about those testing dates?

There is a flyer located in Mrs. Emmette’s room; her room is in the science pod.

2. Are all the testing at dobyns bennett or other locations?

There is an official testing site, and if a student is out of town for a sport or event, they can register at another school and take the ACT.

3. What special tips would you give the test take on the test day?

Be well rested and eat a good breakfast. You cannot eat in the test room but you may bring water and a snack to eat during the 15 minute break, and do not forget your calculator.

4. Where can a student find quick strategy tips for the tests?

There is a website you can go to (act.org) and practice tests are given at DB once a year. There is also a website for juniors that the school pays for,  and students can access the website for 15 minutes a day for 8 weeks. It’s known to improve their test scores by 3 points! This practice website creates customs tests for students who need work on certain items.
