What to Wear for Winter
.

Right after Christmas is one of the most depressing times of the year. We’re tired of winter and can’t wait to start putting on sunscreen and heading for the beach. But just because we’re in a rut doesn’t mean our clothes have to be! Here are some fashion highlights that will help get you through these dreary winter months.
***You can’t get any more classic than a thick winter sweater, whether it be a corny Christmas sweater or a deep purple like this one. A sweater is more fitting than it may look on the hanger and adds a bit of color to whatever you’re wearing. My-Vogue says, “Nothing screams comfy like a white chunky sweater!” All in all, it’s a cozy, fashionable choice.
***In cold, wet weather, there’s nothing more annoying than frostbitten toes. Fuzzy winter boots like these are warm and so very cute, ensuring a pleasant winter walk. Get them in either beige or black, since either will easily go with most colors in your wardrobe. Sadie Wilson, junior, talks about her own boots: “They are warm and comfortable; they can match almost any outfit.” Wear your boots with either tights or skinny jeans, which will create the illusion of a longer, curvier leg.
***Sweater dresses have been a smashing hit this season. My-Vogue says that it’s certainly possible to find one that’s “so interesting that it is almost impossible to wear at the office,” or, in our case, school! Sweater dresses are warm, cute, and fit the curves of your body, creating the image of a waistline. They come in all sorts of colors, fitting different styles and personalities. You can wear them with flats and boots, and even spice it up with different colored tights depending on the dress.
***If you’re wearing something that you think needs a bit more shape, then grab a waist belt and clip it on. These belts go around your waist instead of through your belt loops, and accentuate the waist area, creating a more attractive figure. Most of them come with certain shirts, but there’s nothing stopping you from mixing, matching, and being fashionably creative.
***When it’s cold outside you usually don’t want to wear a skirt or dress, but, thankfully for us, the fashion industry has given us a solution: tights. My-Vogue calls them a “must have for all the girls loving to rock skirts and dresses.” There are many varieties of tights: blue, black, purple, red, glittery, thin, thick, and much more. Don’t let the weather restrict what you wear; tights can be just as warm as pants if you buy them thick. Look more for black tights, since the color will make your legs look thin and long.
***Sometimes there is nothing left in your closet but a boring, plain T-shirt. What are you supposed to do with that? Easy, put on a scarf! Kyra Vautrin-Davis, junior, says, “Scarves are the perfect accessory; they go with any outfit and add some color!” Any ol’ plain Jane outfit can be turned around with a fashionable scarf, and it’ll keep your neck warm, too!
So while we wait for summer to come along, let’s enjoy the cozy styles of winter! You never know; in a couple of months when you’re walking around in flip-flops you might start missing those thick black tights and boots!
