Candace Chatman, Editor-in-Chief (E-Edition)

Hey! So I’m Candace Chatman. I’m seventeen and a senior here at D-B! I’m the editor-in-chief of the e-edition (this website you’re on right now!) and I love my job. This is actually my first year in journalism class, I love writing in general. Oh, and I love Ms. Haren! She’s da bomb. So you probably want to know things like my favorite hobbies and what not. Well I love hanging out with my friends, going to football games, and shopping! My friends and I love to go tubing out on the lake and just have fun. I could go into detail and tell you my favorite color, food, and boring things like that but I’ll spare you from all of that boredom! I’m also in Key Club and the B.U.D.S. program here at D-B. I volunteer at the Exchange Place, Netherland Inn, and Bays Mountain after school and on the weekends from time to time. I’m really outgoing, I like to talk a lot, and I love to meet new people. Well that’s pretty much it for now! If you do want to know more about me all you’ve got to do is ask!

Nathan Skeens, Editor-in-Chief (Print Edition)

Senior Nathan Skeens has spent the last four years of his life here at good ole Dobyns-Bennett, diligently pursuing his academic pursuits…not! Nathan Skeens is a strange and interesting individual. A lover of the outdoors, he spends every moment he can out in the forests and mountains, whether hiking, backpacking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

Nathan also likes to work out and does so whenever he can. But, he is also a fan of poetry and writing, which is what led him to join the Arrowhead staff last year. Now, he is the Editor-in-Chief and is greatly enjoying his rapid advancement to the top, meanwhile planning to move on to bigger and better things. He hopes to go to college and major in journalism so he can one day dazzle the world with his articles.

Briana Santos-Love, Student Life Editor

If you mix two parts glitter, to one part Alice in Wonderful, add in a sprinkle of  nerd and sarcasm, a handful of Ke$ha, a dash and splash of Lady Gaga, serve with a generous helping of Hello Kitty, and top with a loud mouth and enough personality for three people, the outcome is well, me. Hey, my name is Briana Marie Santos-Love I am finally a senior here at Dobyns-Bennett High School. I really like to read a lot and listen to music and Hayley Williams from Paramore is one of my idols. Along with Taylor Swift…And Princess Diana…go figure. Anyway, I really like John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and OH!, I really love my friends too. I want to grow up and be a writer, which is why I joined journalism in the first place. Hopefully my articles won’t bore you to death. Mean Girls is one of the best movies ever and Katy Perry is so fun. Well, that’s about all I’ve got to say here. Thanks fro reading and you have yourself a lovely day!

Hallie Smith, Opinions Editor

Lance Dye, Entertainment Editor

Hi, I am Lance Dye, entertainment editor of the Dobyns-Bennett Arrowhead. I am a senior and a Cadet 1st Lieutenant in DB’s AFJROTC, where I am personnel officer. I like all sorts of music from some country to metalcore. Music is my entire life outside of ROTC. There is never a moment that passes where I’m not listening to or thinking about one song or another. I am also an avid poet.

Tori Fleury, News Editor

Hey, I’m Tori Fleury. I am a senior at Dobyns-Bennett and the News Editor for the newspaper. I am naturally a shy person, but with big dreams. I’m always reading about adventures in my books, and I know that every day I am living my own. My family and friends are always reminding me how blessed I am. The only reason I get through each day with a smile is because of my hero, my friend, and my all, Jesus Christ. I enjoy the simple things in life, such as my two fluffy kitties that bring me unspeakable joy, a warm cup of tea, and watching the stars while breathing the cold air. I plan to major in journalism or library science and minor in business and creative writing. I live my life with this simple motto: If you are blessed, bless. If you are forgiven, forgive. If you are loved, love. And above all, if you are saved, save.

Emily Garrison, Graphic/Layout Editor & Photographer

Emily Nicole Garrison was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on a Friday, on the 13th day in the month of May. Wow, that was a very long, confusing sentence.  Anyway, I’m Emily. I’m an overall very down-to-earth person. I like pretty things and taking pictures of them. Speaking of taking pictures, I’m a photographer and one of the layout editors for the Arrowhead. That’s obvious, of course, since I now have a biography on this website. Another obvious thing would be that I no longer live in Hawaii. Since then, I’ve moved as many years as I’ve lived and lots of things have changed. That’s one of the words I live by: change. I now have 5 brothers and sisters, and spend a lot of time with them. I love my family, and a lot my inspiration comes from them. Oh, I write, by the way. I love that, too, along with music, my God, and being myself. Never let anyone tell you to be something other than what you are.

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”  -Dr. Suess

Niko Graham, Graphic/Layout Editor & Photographer

Hi. I’m Niko, but you can call me Niko.  I enjoy long walks on the beach and sipping lattes while watching the sunset. Ok, not really… But I do enjoy the beach. I was born and raised in San Diego up until I was 12 years old. At the ripe age of 12, I packed up and headed here along with my parents and my now five-year-old brother.  I consider myself to be somewhat of a musician.  I play bass, guitar, piano, drums, and cello.  When I’m not playing music,  you’ll find me listening to it.  Music takes up about 9/10 of my life at this point in time.  I am also somewhat of a hero here at Dobyns-Bennett, due to the fact that I managed to get the one and only Basil Marceaux to make an appearance here.  Well, I don’t really know what else to write. Goodbye.

Victoria Peters, Reporter & Photographer

Hola!  My name is Victoria Peters.  I am a freshman here at D-B, and I am on the newspaper staff, the Arrowhead.  I enjoy being a part of the paper.  Iam also a HUGE band geek; I love being a part of the band.  It is a great way to have fun and goof around with my friends.  I am also addicted to reading.  I have actually been grounded from reading many times.  I am keen on watching movies too.  I will watch, or read, anything that has to do with a vampire.  I like to listen to older music.  I mostly listen to selections from the ’70′s and ’80′s.  Now you know a little bit more about me!

Caleb Reynolds, Reporter

Hi I’m Caleb Reynolds. Don’t let the scary picture fool you though, I’m not a cop. I’m one of the reporters in your school newspaper team. You know the arrowhead right? You should, but back on topic. I don’t really have much else to say about myself except that I play trombone. I’m a senior and hopefully ill be graduating soon. I think that’s all I’m going to say. If you want to know more, just come find me ill talk to you. Or better yet, be lazy, just google me. You never know what you’re going to find. If you do find me on google though, please tell me because well I think that’s pretty awesome. By the way, if Satan hands you a taco, DO NOT EAT IT.

Hannah Cutshall, Reporter

My name is Hannah Cutshall. I’m a freshman here at DB and also a reporter on the DB Arrowhead Newspaper. Besides the Arrowhead I play French horn in the band. My favorite subject is science, and one day hope to be a marine biologist. When I’m not at school, I like to hang out with friends, run, and swim. Aside from running or swimming, I also love animals and listening to music. Some of my favorite songs right now are “Not Afraid” by eminem, “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, or “Only exception” by Paramore.

Ashley Lovin, Reporter & Photographer

What’s up Dobyns-Bennett? It’s Ashley Lovin reaching out to her fellow students. I just wanted to let my school know a little bit about me. I am a freshman here at DB and so far, I am really enjoying every minute of my time here. At first I thought DB would be awful; the large crowd, difficult classes. Then I realized that high school isn’t so bad. I enjoy my classes, teachers, and my friends. I work for the DB Arrowhead Online Edition as a photographer and a writer for the entertainment section. I enjoy writing and supporting my school. I am also a cadet for AFJROTC here at DB. I make good grades in all my classes and I try to help the best I can. I enjoy poetry and art. I love animals but my favorite one is the panda bear. My favorite subject is science because I get to work in a laboratory. My favorite book is Eclipse and my favorite song is “Fireflies” by Owl City. Now you know a little bit about me and what I do. Hope to make new friends someday.
