Hannah Marcello, Editor-in-Chief
Hannah Barrett Marcello, a senior and editor-in-chief of the DBHS Arrowhead, is hard working, has a good heart, and is also overly organized. You should see her room… Hannah loves to listen to music, sing in the shower, shop, bake cookies, work-out, and hang out with her friends and sister. She moved to this smelly city known as Kingsport about three years ago from Maryland . Although she very badly misses her old friends and high school, she has grown to love the South. She works as a hostess/ server at Riverfront Seafood Company and absolutely loves working there. She feels that working helps her to become more independent. Hannah is also taken; she is in a relationship with Cody. She actually met him at Riverfront. She and Cody hope to get married and move to Ireland one day. Lastly, she lives with her mom and two sisters and her dad just recently moved here from Rhode Island . She is very happy about this, especially the fact she gets to work with her dad.
Anna Heim, Managing Editor/Photographer
Anna Heim is a bouncy critter, known for her crazy ideas and obscure actions. She loves to meet fun and interesting people. She also enjoys acting, singing loudly in the shower, and jumping in great big puddles. Fuzzy or shiny things capture her attention and her love for cheese is infamous. You can find her observing other humans in a cozy space or petting a fuzzy curtain in some theater while thinking deep thoughts.
Ashley Woodlief, Business Manager

Kiersten Reynolds, Distribution Manager/Photographer
As a child, Kiersten Reynolds was very energetic. She always had to be doing something or going somewhere. As she grew up she noticed she had a passion for helping anyone or anything that needed help. She loves animals and takes any opportunity she can to play with her dogs. She is easily entertained and easily distracted. She loves shiny objects and soft stuff. Should you find yourself unable to find her all you have to do is look in her bed, it’s almost guaranteed that if she’s not busy with her many activities then she’s in bed asleep. Air Force junior reserve officer training corps (AFJROTC) is her passion and she strives to one day be a member of the Air Force. She loves to take photos and is very good at writing. She is the distribution manager and a photographer. She plans to go to college for sports medicine and get the heck out of Kingsport.
August Aguilar, Entertainment Editor
August Aguilar is seventeen, and a senior at Dobyns-Bennett High School this year. He is the Entertainment Editor of The Arrowhead newspaper. This is his first year taking journalism, and he took it because he enjoys writing. Some of his hobbies are hanging out with friends and family, listening to music, working on his car, and watching movies. After high school he plans on going to college and pursing a career in history or film. Someday he hopes to write a book because of his passion for writing. He enjoys taking this class because he gets to express his writing skills for people to read, and likes to hear what they think about it.
Daniel Stafford, Features Editor
Daniel Stafford is a cynical, sarcastic, ungrateful, and redundant ingrate. He believes the following: that the funniest word on Earth is ‘Kajenkins,” that pi should be just 3, and that rap is missing a “C”. Needless to say, he should be committed to an asylum, but no such action has been taken, much to the ennui of the other staff members. He spends his evenings listening to The Beatles and writing novels that never quite make it past the first chapter. He has a gamut of strange habits including, but not limited to: collecting swords, archiving comic books, eating the cheese off pizzas before the crust, and sitting like a gargoyle. He is a self-diagnosed nerd, one of the foremost in this field.
Jesse Jenkins, Features Editor
Jesse Wade Jenkins IV is a senior at Dobyns-Bennett. He has lived in Kingsport his entire life and eagerly awaits his college life at the University of Cincinnati, where he will be attending in the fall of 2010. His favorite activities are playing soccer and video games such as RuneScape or Call of Duty 4. He wants to get a Master’s in Secondary Education with a Major in German Language and Grammar Studies. He hopes that these will enable him to become a high school teacher and possibly a soccer coach someday. He would like to teach some sort of advanced class such as AP European History or AP German because he wants to teach kids who are academically motivated.
Alexander Hargrave, Sports Editor
A cross between Will Smith and Chris Brown, Alexander Hargrave may be the most beautiful creation God has blessed the Earth with since Albert Einstein. Not only is he musically gifted with talents comparable to Ludwig Beethoven and Wolfgang Mozart, but he can also cut a rug with such craggy elegance that even the dancing king himself, Michael Jackson, would roll over in his grave. He’s also quite the ladies man, able to attract women with physical features similar to Jessica Alba and Kim Kardashian. Even in his younger days, Mr. Hargrave could be seen roping in the ladies like cattle, (comparable to that crazy man on the Prairie Chapel Ranch) with his lasso of charm, personality, and overall good moral character.
Alexander can be seen during the weekends hanging out with his friends, and *cough* girlfriend. He loves long romantic walks through parks, and eggnog…
Ethan Todd, Sports Editor
Not one word can describe the lifestyle of Ethan Todd. Gazing upon him, you will notice his enchanting smile and his rock-hard body. In the latest People Magazine, Ethan Todd was ranked 2nd in the Shirtless Countdown, only behind Matthew McConaughey. But there’s more to Ethan than his good looks. Mr. Todd is fluent in four different languages: English, Swahili, Mandarin Chinese, and Lebanese. Also, when Ethan isn’t studying various languages, he is displaying his athletic ability on the tennis court. From smashing backhands to between-the-leg winners, Ethan has it all; he is the total package!
Nathan Skeens, Reporter
Daring, compassionate, a legend in his own time- these are the words that come to mind when thinking of junior Nathan Skeens. Over the past three years at Dobyns-Bennett High School, Nathan has dominated academically in school. An admitted eccentric, Nathan is a great lover of history, bluegrass music, and music videos from the eighties. Besides the Arrowhead, Nathan is also a member of the Dramahawks, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and Impressions literary magazine. A great lover of travel, Nathan relies on his favorite quotation from Matsuo Basho, "Every day is a journey, and the journey itself home."
Chris Bendeck, Reporter
Chris Bendeck is a senior at Dobyns-Bennett High School. He was born on August 31,1991 in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 1996 he moved to Kingsport,Tennessee, where he has lived ever since. This is his first year in Journalism. After graduating, he hopes to enroll in the Communications department at Middle Tennessee State University. A very witty, keen individual, he can be an enigma to figure out at times but he is easy to get along with. He has a two brothers. Daniel, his twin brother and Nick, one year younger, complement a twenty-one year-old sister, Caitlin. His hobbies include reading, watching sports and TV in general, and playing golf.
Heather Salyers, Reporter
Heather Salyers, the coolest freshman you’ll ever meet, is a fun and bubbly fifteen-year-old. Her strong-willed personality gives her the confidence she needs to accomplish anything. She tries her best at cheerleading which takes up most of her time, but she enjoys it all the same… for the most part. She’s loud, energetic, and high spirited. Friends? She has a lot, and most can be trusted. And others, well you get it. Boys? Not something really important at the moment. With all advanced classes, cheerleading, and other time-consuming things, her schedule is pretty packed, but there’s always time for friends. This is just the beginning for her, and she’s looking forward to a fun high school experience.
Nicole Larkins, Reporter
A freshman at Dobyns-Bennett High School, Nicole Larkins is working as a reporter on the Arrowhead Staff. Her favorite things in this world are writing, horror movies that nearly scare you to death, playing video games with her friends until they all collapse from exhaustion, spending time with her beautiful husky/timber wolf, and spending time outdoors hiking. The last one, however, she should probably just give up on seeing as how she is probably the clumsiest person to ever walk this earth. She cannot even walk across a flat surface without finding something to trip over, yet she always just laughs it off and gets up acting like nothing happened. Her dreams for the future are to become a published writer, to travel the world, and to figure out the exact formula for getting the cheese into a Cheeze-It.
Tucker Shull, Reporter
There once was a kid from Kingsport
With blue eyes and red hair, rather short.
He participated in activities far too many
But when he looks for fun he can’t find any.
Except while onstage, they’d clap while he’d bow
But writing will do for now.
Molly Smith, Reporter
Molly Smith is a freshman at Dobyns-Bennett. Molly has lived in Kingsport, TN, all her life. She has a younger sibling named Abby, who is 12 years old. Oliver, Molly’s yorkshire terrier, is her favorite animal and she loves walking him. Molly enjoys running cross country and track and also plays basketball for D-B; these sports consume most of her time. When she isn’t playing sports, she loves to shop for clothes and waste her money she makes babysitting.
Matt Peace, Reporter
Matt Peace was spawned from the union of a grizzly bear and the blood of Abraham Lincoln. He was raised by a pack of wild ogres. As he grew, he became more powerful, his fame grew, and he eventually took control of the pack. Greedy for land, he led successful conquests of several Indian reservations throughout the American Southwest. The U.S. Government finally got wind of the attacks and sent in soldiers to put him down. They were defeated, and Matt lost both his legs and arms, but he killed 20 with his just his teeth. The Arrowhead got hold of his accomplishments and invited him to join the staff.
Rachael Brown, Reporter
Rachael Brown is a senior (Seniors, Seniors!!!) at DBHS. She is the definition of spaz and is very proud of it. She can trip, fall, laugh to the point of tears, then get up and act like nothing ever happened. She’s a fairly opinionated individual that people either love or hate, but won’t forget. She is sure to be remembered as a highly underestimated and unique individual. She is proud of the diversity of musical genres she listens to, but is likely to look at you like with a pained expression that questions the very underlying of your intelligence if you build the courage to question her reading preferences. She is often found with her head in the clouds, day dreaming of things yet to come and things that may never be. She believes that life is what you make it and that you should take each and every day with an air of sarcasm. She is usually found with her friends having an amazing time doing things that could only be described as mischievous and quite amusing.
